Top 5: Tower Defense
It’s been some time since our last top 5 and in the meanwhile, there was definitely no shortage of new games. Especially the fans of the tower defense games have had a good year with the release of many highly anticipated titles. Our top 5 includes both new older games that still deserve the attention and praise for their contributions to the tower defense genre.
However, not all of them can make it into our list and that’s why we selected the five very best tower defense games available today. True fans have probably finished all of them already and if you missed any of them, be sure to catch up! 2. Bloons Tower Defense 4
Released 419 days after the previous installment of the series, but it was worth the wait. This game met all its expectations by introducing new types of bloons, towers and maps while maintaining its cartoony looks and feel. Don’t be fooled its cute factor though, the game offers quite a challenge for even experienced players!

3. Gemcraft Chapter Zero: Gem of Eternity
This game brought the already famous Gemcraft series to an even higher standard. With more maps and several game modes the lifespan of this game is longer than ever before, if you can make it through the storymode that is. Accompanied by the highest quality artwork and sound, this game will surely last another year!

4. Desktop Tower Defense Pro
You almost can’t mention tower defense without thinking of the original Desktop Tower Defense. This game made this genre popular and has been enjoyed by tens of millions of players. This list wouldn’t be complete without paying tribute to the latest version of this game, adding new game modes to extend its replay value!

5. Protector III
The second tower defense title that can’t be excluded from this list. The original Protector unleashed a massive hype and got millions of players hooked to tower defense. This third installment of the series is the best version to date, allowing players to specialize their units to a great extent while playing through the various maps!

Bloons TD4 is damn hard on even medium difficulty :/

You need to use certain towers clustered together. Cannons to pop the armored bloons and then towers to quickly pop them.

I really liked BTTD, but the whole juggling concept was rather flawed in my opinion.
